Back to Basics

Success? Not so Tough to Understand!

Most people think success and happiness is tough to come by. Personally, I think success is pretty simple. SIMPLE! I mean, in it’s most basic form, all you need to do to be successful, is

  • Figure out what you want to do
  • Decide when you want it done by
  • List the Steps You Need to Do It
  • Do the stuff you put on the list
  • Reap the rewards, spend the money, or whatever the goal was

In it’s simplest form…

Of course, in it’s simplest form, climbing Mt. Everest is a simple matter of putting one foot in front of the other and holding on until you get to the top — in it’s simplest form…

Of course, everyone knows — or realizes pretty quickly — that in order to perform the simple steps of climbing Mt. Everest, certain preparations must be made. There is conditioning that must take place in order to endure the perils of such a statedly simple process. There is strength that must be gained, fears overcome, confidence developed, specific skills have to be developed and mastered, and a definite plan and strategy has to be put in place. . . in order to competently execute the simple steps involved.

In non-mountain-climbing ventures, most people don’t quite realize that similar preparations have to be made in order to execute the simple steps mentioned for every other venture too. Many times, certain types of strengths must to be gained, fears overcome, confidence developed, different skills have to be acquired and mastered, and a definite plan and strategy must be put in place… or we’ll fall off of Mt Success just as easily as we could fall off Mt. Everest.

So the biggest question to ask regarding becoming successful (which can include getting rich) is the same question that must be asked and answered if you want to climb Mt. Everest! And that question is, “Are you willing to do what you NEED to do, to prepare for the expedition?”

No matter what task or goal you are about to approach in life, the same question must be asked, and the answer must be yes, if you want to “make the trip.”

So, Success? It’s not really so hard to understand. Right? And assuming the answer is yes, there are still multiple approaches in how to proceed. But, we’ll cover those another day.

Stay tuned, and have an awesome day!

Kelvin Ringold

Born to John and Lora Ringold on October 24, 1953, grew up, went to school, graduated high school and joined the Air Force -- turned 18 in basic training. Did 20 years in the Air Force and retired in 1991. Moved to Syracuse, worked at University Hospital and retired from there at 55. During that 55 years... I learned some lessons, one of which is that LIFE is what we make it. I spend a major portion of my waking hours helping other people figure out the same thing. Life is what we make of it, and... "when you master your mindset, you master your life." That's my mission: living it, and teaching it.
